Pete's Notes on Open Sync, Nokia 6233, Sunbird and Kontact
Introduction
Some simple notes on my experiences with syncing together my phone, Kontact/Korganiser/Kmail and Sunbird. I've written these partly for my own reference, and partly posted them here as they may help someone else.
To get everything synchronised I used the following:
- WebDAV (under Apache)
- OpenSync
WebDAV
Consult your webserver documentation. I'm using Apache but others are available.
Korganiser / Sunbird
I cheated here somewhat - these two can be synchronised without resorting to OpenSync. I shared the same iCalendar files between the two applications. This did not seem to cause any problems - though I suspect that you might loose some entries if you try to edit calendars in both applications if they are open at the same time.
You may ask why I want to use Korganiser and Sunbird at the same time. Well, I like Sunbird but Korganiser is more integrated with Kmail and other KDE applications. Both have different pros and cons, I like both and I can so why not?
Kontact
OpenSync
I am using these plugins:
- Sunbird
- syncml-obex-client
I do note that the plugin kde-pim, should have worked out of the box but it did not work for me and I found a way around it.

Multisync Groups
I found it necessary to use two groups one for syncing the calendar and one for syncing the addressbook. I called these groups &qt;nok-file&qt; and &qt;phone-sun-multi&qt;. You can see these on the GUI, image below.

Configure nok-file (Phone - Addressbook)

Configure phone-sun-multi (Phone, Sunbird and Korganiser)
